Recently I read
* of a survey
taken of
150 Nobel Laureates
which found that each of them was as
passionate
about a hobby
as their work.
Every
one of them said that
most of their
ideas happen while they're absorbed in their
hobbies.
That's not surprising to any of us, is it? I know that for
me, the
huge wardrobe of
single socks I've knit is not really
the point......... I also love doing all the crazy exercises
designed to stretch our brains - hence the
crazy
face we
found in my lunch one day (see above), and the
designer
fish
I'm inventing. Oh there's more, but really the point is that
our brains work best when we are curious and
stay busy doing the things we love.
I just love that about us!!

Off the Subject, but What's For Dinner? |
| |
Is it just me, or are you
starving, too? I just spoke to my daughter, the caterer, and
she's cooking up a feast for tonight. It will be
Enchilada Bake
made like a lasagna in scrumptious layers of tortilla,
taco-seasoned beef, a touch of minced garlic, refried and
black beans,
two
cheeses, homemade enchilada sauce and sour
cream. On the side will be the
secret rice
recipe from the Spanish ladies at Caitlynn's
school:

KRAZY for KUMIHIMO
|
|
The hobbies that stick with me are usually the ones that
are relaxing, meditative, make something useful,
or that give me a beautiful result easily. Kumihimo does
it all!
It used to be quite complicated:

Now there are simple, portable plates;
This
is yet another way to use up
little bits of leftover yarn,
ribbons,
wire, beads,
string,
strips of fabric....well,
you get the idea. There are flat
braids and
round
ones. You can build in
buttonholes, too. Make your own
purse straps, ribbons,
trims,
jewelry. I am totally addicted
and will happily help you to be, too!!! Looms are set up and
ready for you to try.
(I'm free, as usual!!)
