AHHHHH SUMMER................

Glorious, light-filled, tasty, colorful, fragrant, relaxed, flowery, musical, .....warm

Cicadas, bullfrogs and Mourning Doves sing their hearts out as I breakfast on the deck, elbow-deep in sketchbooks, paints, yarn and daydreams.
It's
Magical, this Season of  Inspiration  with generous long days to play in grassy, light-filled "Studios" that don't mind a little paint flying around, and the bounty of the garden to fuel our energy. What a wholesome, happy, safe time to set your imagination free and see what blossoms......

Enjoy!!!

Remains of the Day

Journals

J

These crazy little journals are my newest addiction. They're made entirely of scraps of things: fabrics, junk mail, movie theater tickets, envelopes, postcards, pamphlets, die-cut and marbled papers. If you can stitch it or glue it, it works!!

I consider them to be blank books, so additional writing, painting, drawing, and stitching are encouraged!! But, they are wonderful little time capsules, in their own right.

They are the brainchild of Mary Ann Moss who has an online class on her website.

NEW WORKSHOP

New Workshop in Process

As long as we've lived in Kansas City I haven't had a place where I could dye ribbon and do other very messy things all year round.

As I write, that is finally changing!!

Cathy making Workshop

Cathy and Fred are busy little elves building a workshop at the back of the store. There I hope to be able to demonstrate all sorts of fun things that we love to do, as well as begin dyeing silk ribbons for embroidery and tassel kits. making beads, paper and MARBLING everything in sight!!

We'll let you know when it all gets started, and I hope you'll drop in to see what's happening!!

A Simple Summery Tassel

Blue Silk Tassel

Blue Silk Tassel detailI

This is a simple tassel technique that can be used for MONSTER tassels like the Blue Silk (above), or for a tiny little one like the Rajmahal Tassel (below).

Tiny Rajmahal Tassel

All it takes is two contrasting yarns (or threads or ribbons), a rectangular piece of cardboard twice the length of your finished tassel, and a needle big  enough for the yarn or thread used at the top (the silver part of the Blue tassel or the pink part of the Rajmahal one.
